FAQ
What is the Maximum Data I can fit on my master disk ?
The maximum data recommended for your masters are:
CD Audio and CD-Rom
Audio: 79 Min. 40 Sec.
Data: 700Mb.
Mini Round CD
Audio: 23 min. 20 Sec.
Data: 205 MB
Mini DVD
Capacity : 1 GB
CD CARD
Audio: 3 min. 07 Sec.
Data: 27.4 MB
DVD 5 ( Single Layer)
4.7GB
DVD9 (Dual Layer)
8.5GB
While you may find you may be able to fit more than the maximum
limits above onto a blank cd , note that technically this is out
of Philips specifications and thus may impact on the copies being
able to be recognised by Drives on playback. Hence ADM Solutions
would reject masters that are greater than the above limits.
How Do I Supply a Master for DVD9 Dual Layer Replication ?
We can accept the following as masters for dual layered replication:
1. A Dual Layered Writable DVD Media ( DVD+R preferred or DVD-R).
2. Two Single Layered DVD-R Media. Disk 1 marked "L0"
(layer 1) and Disk 2 marked "L1" ( layer 2 ). The layer
change must be authored into the masters as well. Note it is recommended
that this option is done by a professional DVD authoring studio.
3. Two DLT TAPES: Same principles as option (2) above. This option
can only be done by a professional DVD authoring studio.

How do i set my artwork up and what program and files should i
create artwork in?
We provide detailed Specification Sheets and general artwork guideines
for your artwork preparation. We recommend you contact your account
manager and request our artwork specification information be sent
to you by email. It is highly recommended you do this before you
start your artwork design, thus ensuring you don.t waste any time
re-doing artwork.

Yes, all paper parts are available as Adobe Illustrator Templates.
For more complicated products that involve glueing (e.g Cardboard
Sleeves, Disk Mailers and Tray Packs) actual Knife Die-Lines are
available as .eps files so artwork can be prepared to exact size
and specifications. To avoid delays in your job, contact your account
manager for the correct template.
To identify the correct product, then please quote a "Quote
Number" or if possible a "Product Code" so we can
send you a specific artwork template to use.
Any CD-ROM Master Preperation Tips?
Helpful tips to consider when preparing your final CD Master:
1. Never use a Rewritable CD Media, these can not be used for
Duplication or Mastering.
2. "Finalise" your disk. Ensure when you create your final
burn, that you select "Close Disk" / "Finalise Disk"
in your CD Burning Software. By not selecting this you are creating
a "Multi-Session - Open" Disc, which we can not accept
as a master.
3. Ensure the file name is correct and is limited to 13 characters,
sometime your Burning software can truncate the name if you chose
a large file name so please check this as we simply make an exact
copy of your master, including the file name.
4. Never include your artwork on the same disk as the master, we
make a 100% copy of your master , so the artwork will be copied
as well.
5. If you require ADM Solutions to make any changes to the master
, including file names then we will charge you and need to send
you a copy for final testing. Therefore make sure you have thoroughly
tested your master disk.
6. CD-ROM Masters must be supplied on a CD Writable Media , NOT
DVD-R Media.
CD-Audio Master Preperation Tips?
1. Burn the final master at low speed , 8 x maximum.
2. Do not exceed 79 min , 10 seconds in length.
Are ISO IMAGE Files accepted as a Master Disk?
Yes, we can accept .ISO image files as masters for both CD-ROM
and DVD Projects, but not for CD Audio Projects.
However, if you do so , it is very important you let us know that
the master is a .ISO file and we will need to uncompress it to burn
your final master.
This is very important to avoid us just copying the iso file itself,
which is not what you want.
DVD Projects - we can also accept DDP2.0 files as masters for DVD-5 and DVD9 Replication Projects.
What Speed should I use to burn my master CD or DVD?
Generally the answer to this is the lowest speed , the better!.
As a guide we recommend:
Audio CD - 8 X MAXIMUM
CD-ROM - 16 x MAXIMUM
DVD-ROM/VIDEO - 4 x MAX
DVD Video Master Preparation Tips?
To check your final DVD video master is ready for replication/
duplication , then view the file structure of your disk.
In the root directory of the disk you should find 2 folders:
Folder 1 : "AUDIO_TS" (Often this folder
may be empty, this is not unusual & this file is still required)
Folder 2 : "VIDEO_TS"
No other folders should be in the root directory if your DVD is
VIDEO ONLY. If there is a DVD-ROM component as well as video then
there will be other Folders. However if your DVD is VIDEO , then
there should only be these 2 folders.

Can I use ReWritable DVD’s or CD’s to duplicate with
?
No we can not print on or use rewritable media to duplicate your
cd or dvd project.
What is the difference between “DVD+R” and “DVD-R”
These are the 2 DVD Media formats available for use for DVD Duplication.
As a default ADM Solutions uses “DVD-R” media, however
both formats can be used. You will need to request “+”
R media if you require it.
Both formats are accepted as Masters.
For “Dual Layered” DVD Media – we only accept
“+R” media.
Will I have any problem with DVD Playback using “DVD+R”
or “DVD-R” Media ?
Facts are:
1. “DVD-R” Media will only play in DVD Drives that are
compatible with this format.
2. “DVD+R” Media will also only play in DVD Drive that
are compatible with this format.
3. All drives manufactured in the last 5 years will accept both
formats.
4. Overall 90% of drives will read both formats.
Hence you may have some playback issues with DVD Projects duplicated
on DVD Media. As an estimate they will play in 90% of all drives
and in reality we find that this is not a major issue, however you
should be aware that it may occur in under 10% of cases.
To avoid this 10% chance , then you can “replicate”
your disk which will eliminate this issue as replicated disks are
platform independent.
